St. Thomas is the largest and most developed island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is a popular cruise port destination, and the area around the port is full of shops, restaurants and other tourist attractions. St. Thomas has an international airport with regularly scheduled flights to and from the mainland U.S. It is relatively easy to travel to, especially for U.S. citizens, as it is a territory of the mainland and passports are not needed for travel there. However, if you plan on traveling to the nearby British Virgin Islands, you will need to have your passport on hand.
